John did an awesome job. He was on time and played very good music.

My ratings are this high because its the lowest the site will allow!!! The ABSOLUTE one thing I would change about our wedding/reception. Where to begin...Very unprofessional. horrible quality. LIAR. Shady outfit. No owner responisbility. Was promised by owner that he would be dj at our wedding. 1 week (if that) prior to wedding one of his other dj's contacts me and says he wanted to introduce himself before the wedding. Says he had surgery and couldn't make it. (but couldn't call and tell us that himself) UNPROFESSIONAL!! His fill-in DJ was boring, unmotivating. only spoke when he had too. was very bad at getting guests on dance floor. played the must play songs but not the style of music we had discussed being played at our wedding. Contact from owner always came in a text and would not answer phone calls. Was very nice at 1st then afer contract was signed became rude and shady. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND for ANYTHING!!!! I wouldn't hire him to run a karaoke machine at a bad office party. My story is in details in all the other BAD reviews on here. seems to run the same game/story on others quite frequently. Seems the bad reviews are the only TRUE reviews on here. BEWARE!!!! if u want your reception to run smooth and have a good time GO WITH ANYONE ELSE!!!!! >>>>>>>>REbuttle to ridiculous dj response.I was never offered a gift certificate because i would have taken it. believe me I woulda worked with him as much as possible. I offered to split the overpayment and get refunded for 1hr instead of 2 just so I would get something in return for being mislead. John, you know u didn't offer me anything. Your words were "refund is NOT gonna happen Jack" quoted from the TEXT he sent me. couldn't even pick up the phone and call to discuss the problems. This bogus surgery he had is just like all other bad reviews. Talked to other vendors??? he wasn't there to talk to HIM. the other vendor was the caterer. Who by the way is a personal friend of mine. who was there the whole time. As I told John before don't pass the buck be a man and man up to the bad performance.

I was married on 1/15/11. Twist and Shout Entertainment provided excellent music service and the DJ had all my guest up dancing and participating. In the weeks prior to the wedding, Mr. Padula was very responsive and reassuring. You are in good hands with this professional DJ. Twist and Shout is awesome!

We found and put our trust in DJ John from Twist and Shout Entertainment and we were 100% satidafied with him and his experience. DJ John made our reception the very best. We had fun, it flowed smoothly and everyone danced. He had all the songs we requested, energized the dance floor and even came out and danced with us to all the line dances. His personality was great and he made us all have a great time. People are still talking about the great job that you did. DJ John kept up with us on a regular basis and made us feel totally comfortable that he had it all under control. Things like that weren't even in your job description! None of those things went unnoticed though. the owner promised so much and didnt deliver. he told us he would personally be there and he sent his lackies with no call or explanation. he also promised that since it was a military wedding and my husband's deployment is so close that we would get 2 extra ours free of charge, but instead my cousin went around trying to raise $200 for an extra 2 hours. his employees seemed organized and respectful at first, but all they played was disco type songs, and everyone including all the parents requested new stuff. my husband and i even went to them multiple times to get them to change the music, and they still played only M.J. and disco.i would not recomend them to anyone

We had the pleasure of meeting with and hiring DJ John from Twist and Shout Entertainment over a year ago for my fathers Anniversary party. His talents were outstanding in keeping the dance floor packed with all different ages. When we got married this year we just had to call him back for the reception. He worked with us as much as we needed to make the day a great success. His outgoing personality, humore and friendliness makes us love him even more. He really knows how to professionally work the crowd and make them happy in all aspects. His choices of music and events for our reception made it more than we could have ever asked for. If you are looking for a great DJ in Pittsburgh you have to call Twist and Shout and ask for John.We love you John :-)

DJ John did a wonderful job and our wedding. He was very professional and very easy to work with. He was extremely accommodating and fulfilled last minute requests without a problem. All of our 220 guests had a great time and gave many compliments on the music. John really did keep everyone dancing all night long - we could have even used a bigger dance floor! The purpose of this communications is to provide a reference for Mr. Padula. I have had the opportunity to hire Mr. Padula as a DJ on several occasions. I found Mr. Padula to be an excellent master of ceremonies for birthdays, anniversaries, Corporate functions, and weddings. He is the consummate professional while performing as a master of ceremonies.My experience with Mr. Padula has been that he is a very honest person with a high level of personal integrity. He fulfills the contract obligations and in many cases he exceeds what he has agreed to contractually. I read the previous review on Twist and Shout Entertainment and the professionalism of DJ John. We had 300 people at our reception and DJ John was more than organised. He was exceptional in every way. He was very personable, professional and fun. He played al of our songs we asked for and kept the dance floor full all night. (His Motto). The time and energy that he put into out reception made it the best it could possibly be. We had been to 2 other weddings where we saw DJ John perform and was so impressed that we decided to hire him too. We recommend him and Twist and Shout Entertainment 150%You can't find a better DJ and personality anywhere. Thank you John for all that you did to make our special day a success.

The WORST dj experience we could've had. Unimaginably unprofessional, tacky, and rude- Emailed two weeks before the wedding that he wouldn't be there, then changed his tune only after I emailed him- Did not play requested song for groom's dance with his mother- Told venue staff he would "pack up his s#&# and leave" - Did not play requested songs provided months in advance- Yelled and cursed at wedding planner and bridesmaid- Made an announcement that there would be no more requests taken because asked to change a song that cleared the dance floor

When we booked this DJ I thought we were going to be in good hands. I spent several hours on phone calls back and forth with him discussing what types of music we would want played and how we wanted the evening to proceed. I felt reassured that he knew not only what he was doing, but that he knew what we wanted as well. He never said if he didn't feel comfortable with what we wanted or that he didn't understand anything we were asking for.That all went out the window the day of the wedding. Most of what we discussed didn't matter since he played what he wanted to. I like to think that as long as the crowd is responsive and having fun, that it isn't that important that every song we picked out was heard. However, we chose specific songs for the entrances of the bridal party, the bride's walk down the aisle, etc.. We definitely cared about those aspects and what he did end up playing is not something we would have ever picked. He just played whatever he wanted. At least he got the first dance music correct.When we were announced as a new couple, he actually said the bride's name wrong! Later when we told him about it, he blamed it on his assistant who showed up at the wedding mistakenly and was permitted to stay. Even if it really was his assistant, we had never met that person so why was he was allowed to do the announcing? I'm sorry, but you only get that precious moment one time. You simply can't say "Oops...let's try that again folks. The right name is..." I suppose that you really do get what you pay for. I thought that he was more affordable than some other DJ services but I guess now I see why. Overall, he might be great for parties or something of that sort but I can't recommend him for any weddings. He should have treated it as special and meaningful as we did but it was just another job to him and that's the wrong attitude to have.
