My husband and I had the pleasure of having John as our DJ and Master of Ceremonies during our wedding last Saturday, June 5th, 2010. He was PHENOMENAL. We cannot express enough how great of a job he did with our wedding. Honestly, we had no doubts about him after only two face-to-face meetings, but he still managed to surprise us by exceeding our expectations.We experienced a torrential downpour right as our outside ceremony was scheduled to begin, and John immediately stepped up and handled the rearranging of our ceremony to have our ceremony in the same location as our reception site. He eased my mind as I prepared to walk down the isle into a completely different situation than what was originally planned. He collaborated with all of our vendors, pastor, wedding coordinator, and those in charge of our reception hall to transform a potential disaster into a breath-taking ceremony that was more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. John provided the music for our ceremony and timed each song exactly how I wanted, which made our entire event absolutely perfect.We also had a bit of a fiasco with our cake and those responsible for providing it, and John handled it flawlessly. He's providing pictures of our cake so that we can address our cake situation accordingly, and he kept us up-to-date on their late arrival and poor product without making us panic about the outcome. Even in a situation where he wasn't required to get involved, John still took it upon himself to help us out in any way possible. What a guy :)As far as his DJ services, John is in a category far above all others. He honored every single song request that I provided beforehand, which says a lot considering how many songs I requested. He is not bluffing when he advertises that he will keep you "dancing all night long"! Most of our wedding guests NEVER left the dance floor. Every single song he chose was a hit, and we had countless compliments from our guests on what an amazing entertainer he was. I already have a handful of people that want to use him at their next big event. WAY TO GO JOHN!Furthermore, John has a flawless personality that shines just as bright as his fantastic MC talents. He says the right thing at the right time to make everyone laugh, and can make light of any situation he encounters. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, and we can honestly say that he is not only a great DJ, but also a great friend that we will continue to keep in touch with :) To all the brides-to-be: You WILL NOT be disappointed with John Padula as your MC for your special day. We looked for months to find the right Master of ceremonies and DJ for our upscale wedding. We interviewed some of the top and most expensive DJ's in the Pittsburgh area and found Twist and Shout Entertainment and Master of Ceremonies/DJ to be the best choice for our circumstances. His rate was affordable and his service was exceptional. Not once did we ever need to worry about a thing during the entire 6 hour reception. As the Owner of Twist and Shout Entertainment I would like to reply to my 2.1 rating. It was very unfortunate that I could not make the wedding on their date due to a surgery on my shoulder. I did notify them several times and no, they did not reply to my emails or phone calls within the hour at any time. I don't have a problem with anyone changing anything at anytime. That is your perogative since it is your wedding and you pay us to perform our duties for you. I am sorry that these folks feel the way they do but I don't understand why they were so upset when they actually asked our DJ to stay for two hours longer and was only charged $50.00 instead of our normal rate and then was asked to join some of them at a local bar to party with them afterwards. I do attempt to make all engagements that I book. This is the first one in 15 years that I was not able to make but I am professional enough that I gave them plenty of notice. We keep all correspondance and can prove that they did not respond when notified. That all being said, I am not sure what took place because I heard a different story from my DJ who was sent, but to be professional and err on the side of the customer who I believe is always right, I took the situation and fired the DJ immediately. I apologise that there was a great deal of (mis)communication between this couple and I and I always urge you to stay in contact and keep me in the loop. I forgot to mention that they changed their venue and I did'nt find out until a few weeks before the event. At that time, by the way, I also notified them that I was not going to make their wedding. Regardless., I do agree with them that make sure if you want me....to get it in writing as my contract states that we have the right to send anyone in my pplace unless it is in writing. As the owner I must say that in the years I have been in business you can see that all my reviews are 5 stars. I am sorry that I can't please everyone to their liking but I try and I correct any situation that comes up as soon as I am made aware of it. After researching several DJ's we decided to use DJ John from Twist and Shout Entertainment based on his reviews and personality when we met him. He was very professional when we met and guided us through the reception flawlessly. We let him choose the music for the party and he did a great job. We were SO impressed with DJ John throughout the entire wedding process! We originally chose him because he had such good reviews on here (Weddingwire.com) and because he had a very easy-going personality. Trust me, we did our DJ research and his personality was not easy to find. Upon booking John, he met with us and made us feel so comfortable with the way a wedding reception usually runs (e.g., first dance, cake cutting, etc.). Additionally he gave us fun ideas that we never would have even thought of, however, he did not pressure us into anything. He was in constant communication with my husband and me during the months preceding our wedding (was very prompt w/ emails/calls) and even DJed our wedding, even though it was his own anniversary! Next, the songs we chose for the father/daughter dance and for our first dance changed a few times and he never became irritated with us. The day before the wedding he added some last minute things that I wanted without any complaints! Furthermore, I was trying to get a slideshow set up and I wasn't sure how to get everything situated and he helped me with that even though it wasn't part of his job. Weeks before the wedding, he emailed me an agenda of the reception night that I was able to send to my other vendors (photographer/videographer) so they could see how the night would go. The day of the wedding, I felt so comfortable knowing that he was there to entertain our guests during cocktail hour and when we (the wedding party) arrived, the party began! He kept everyone on the dance floor all night (which is what we've always wanted at our wedding) and chose music that was good for all age groups! We didn't make a "Play" or "Do not play" list, rather, we had John choose the music. He was EXTREMELY good at reading the crowd! People were dancing who usually NEVER dance - it was awesome! The night was supposed to end at 11, but everyone was having so much fun that we extended our reception by an hour and DJ John was more than happy to stay! We had SOOO many people comment on John the night of the wedding, the next morning, and every time we talk to anyone who was at our wedding. Today, my husband said people were STILL saying good things about DJ John at work. A DJ can either make or break a wedding and DJ John definitely made our wedding reception a night to remember! He will not disappoint you! :)

From the time we first spoke to DJ John from Twist and Shout Entertainment we knew he would be right for our reception. Everyone just loved his music choices and he really made true to his motto that he promises to keep you dancing all night long. We had 280 people there and I swear that there was no less that 100 people on the dance floor all night. He worked with all the vendors and made things flow really smooth. In fact all the vendors commented on hoe easy it was to work with him. We had so much fun that we asked him to stay an hour and a half over and he was more than wiling to do so. When we Met John We knew right away that he would be the right DJ for our group of guests. His personality shined and his sense of humor was just out of this world. He made us so at ease with everything and asked that we just put things in his hands and trust him. John Padula and Twist and Shout Entertainment was the best addition to our reception we could have possibly made. He was very thorough and Professional in his appearance, and the way he performed the events at the reception. We just got back from our honeymoon and the guests at our reception are still raving about the way DJ John put together our special day. Our DJ cancelled on us a week before our Wedding and we were furious and left at a loss. We contacted Dragon Karaoke and DJ Service in Pittsburgh and DJ John, The owner was more than happy to accomodate us at the last minute. He was quick to return our calls and emails and get our music list in order. Most of all, We were getting married 90 miles away and he still was able to make it a wonderful event that we will never forget. His service was inexpensive and his set up was very professional. We searched and interviewed 8 different DJ's to find the best one for our reception. When we found Twist and Shout Entertainment and DJ John we wished that we would have come across him first. Out of all of them he had the nicest personality, the willingness to work with us and was just as friendly and accomodating as he could be. The others seemed to fake and obnoxious. DJ John really rocked the house that night and did just what his logo said. Kept us dancing all night long. So, if you are looking for a great DJ with lots of personality and music to boot. then he is the one you should hire. We totally recommend him 100%
