We used Patti's Pastries because she has a deal with the reception location that we were using. We were extremely happy with the end result - our wedding cake - it was absolutely beautiful! We weren't really sure what to expect, given our communication with Patti prior to the wedding. We met Patti only once at her "shop" - which is actually her home. It was very cozy, but we were hoping to taste several different kinds of cakes so that we could choose one for our wedding. Instead, we only got to try a piece of her traditional white cake. It was fine (and very tasty), but just wasn't what we expected. Patti had some photos to look at for us to choose what we wanted the cake to look like, and we were very disappointed as we looked through her albums. Most of the pictures looked like they were from the 1990s, and just looked very dated. We did not see any that we would choose for our own. Luckily we came prepared and had some photos from the Internet with what we had in mind, and we were able to work from those. Another thing is that we felt like our choices, in general, were very limited. If we wanted to get a cake that fit into her deal with our ceremony location, we had very few options. We could have gotten whatever we wanted, but we would have had to pay her for it. This was fine, but it was frustrating to us. Otherwise, Patti was easy to talk to, just hard to get in touch with. I'm still not sure if she has an email address - we never got it if she did. Overall though, as I said, the end result was great: the cake looked better than we could have imagined, and it was absolutely delicious!
We were married at Shakespeare's on the Old Stonewall Golf Course, Ellwood City, PA. Our cake was not only beautiful on our wedding day, but it was delicious as well! We had a white batter with a raspberry filling and buttercream icing. Our one year cake that Patti double wrapped and we put in the freezer for our one year anniversary tasted just as fresh and good as it did the day of our wedding. I thought for sure that it would not have lasted in the freezer for a year, but it sure did.
It was so tasty, I am having Patti make us a small cake of the same type for our anniversary in a few weeks. I can't wait.
I recommend Patti to anyone that needs a Wedding or special occassion cake. You won't be disappointed!
