Mayernik Center - Avonworth Community Park

the mayernik center was a great Afordable beautiful place to a wedding! for sure recommend it for anyone looking to have a great relaxed funfilled wedding!!!

Its a beautiful venue! Everything went to smoothly. Suzi really helped with keeping things on track! We've gotten so many compliments on the wedding and the venue! We highly reccomend it.

I was initially working with the coordinator Shannon, but she left soon after I decided on the Mayernik & I began to communicate with Suzi. She was extremely helpful, flexible, and quick to return my MANY emails! We had our ceremony and reception inside, but luckily the weather allowed for many outside photos around the large property. We had an unfortunate situation in that my hired DJ thought our wedding was the day AFTER it actually was & didnt show up! But Suzie made some phone calls & got a DJ to fill-in for us at the very last minute. She helped keep us calm & everything turned out beautifully. She even found some rubber cement which worked to temporarily hold on one of my fake nails that fell off! The bartenders & caterers were great too...haven't heard ANY negative comments from my guests. It wasn't the cheapest place we could've gone with, but it was sooo worth it :)

The Mayernik Center is beautiful! And the event coordinator Suzi took care of everything. Everyone that attended our wedding complimented on how smooth everything went, and how nice it looked. We are very happy!

This venue is absolutely gorgeous, especially at Christmas time, when we had our wedding there. It's like being in an oversized log cabin with cathedral ceilings. It's cozy, there's a fireplace with a beautiful mantel, and it's perfect for an intimate feeling wedding ceremony and reception. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they will set it up however you want it to be, and they take care of any mishaps or problems the day of (we had a problem with an accidental double order of beer, and the coordinator took care of everything when they showed up with more than we needed).

My husband and I were married at the Mayernik Center on 10-22-11. We had an outdoor ceremony on the park grounds and then our reception was held inside the center. The place is beautiful!! We continue to receive compliments on how nice the place was, how convenient it was to our out-of-town guests, and how friendly and organized the staff was! Suzi was awesome to work with! She made our day run so smoothly...always got back to me right away if I had questions or concerns...and just overall made the whole wedding planning process seem easy. We had a wonderful time and our guests loved EVERYTHING about the Mayernik center! I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking for the perfect spot in Piitsburgh to get married!

Suzi was great to us ! It was a beautiful venue. All our guests loved the woodsy feel of it as did we. We had the ceremony out back behind the center and moved the party in. The only thing i can say is that the center really has a lot of little add ons. I think if you are spending thousands of the dollars they could at least throw in your names on the sign for free. Other than that, book early as it is a popular place and definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a not so traditional space.

my husband and i just got married here on october14th. we loved this place and so did all of my guests. suzi was a fantastic coordinator and had everything perfect. i would highly recommend this to anyone getting married, especially in the fall or winter. love this place!!

keep up the good work. get tire tracks in the lawn landscaped 1st, then bill those who don't know how to drive for it.

The Mayernik Center is not only a beautiful venue to hold a ceremony or reception, but since they do so many weddings and receptions a year (they book over a year in advance!) they really know how to make things run smoothly. Anytime I would send an email to the coordinator, I would get a very quick response. Although its a little pricey, the porch and picturesque setting make it worth it! My only small complaint would be that in the 2 years that we were planning our wedding, the Mayernik had two coordinators move onto other jobs so we had someone new to deal with. However, this caused no problems whatsoever and our plans were still executed flawlessly! We heard so many compliments on the service provided by Suzi, the coordinator, as well as the beauty of the venue from our guests. I recommend the Mayernik to anyone who wants a cozy, woodsy feel to their wedding with beautiful park views from a wrap around porch. You won't be disappointed!

I gave the Mayernik center a high overall rating because of Shannon, not Susie. On the day of my wedding, Susie was rude and overall not helpful. If you plan on using the Mayernik Center, request only Shannon. Shannon was kind and extremely helpful. She made everything run smoothly before and after the wedding. She is very good at what she does. As for the center, it was clean and well maintained. All of my guests loved the wood inside and our outdoor ceremony was beautiful too. I'd use the Mayernik Center again.

I am so happy that I picked the Mayernik Center for my wedding reception! Suzie was fantastic (from Mayernik Center)! Everyone loved the setting - it was perfect! Wish I could do it all over again!

I just got married on July 30 at the Mayernik. My main contact was Suzi. A few times that I emailed her, she never responded and I had to contact the other coordinator to get answers to important questions. Suzi assured me many times that she would be there the morning of the wedding at 9:30 to let my husband and the other guys in to decorate. The guys arrived at 9:45 and had to interrupt a tour that the other coordinator was giving to another couple. Suzi didn't arrive until 12:05 and there were tables and other factors out of place and missing that I had discussed with the other coordinator that weekmsince Suzi was on vacation. She assured me they would be there and I even saw her write them down for Suzi. But they were never there and then she questioned me about whether I really wanted them or not. Of course, I would want them, I specifically asked for them. Suzi just seemed inconvenienced during the event and wanted to rush a few things along. Overall, the value of the Mayernik is great. Our day was great but those few hiccups could have easily been avoided had Suzi covered all her bases. If you are looking at the Mayernik for your wedding, ask to work with Shannon.

Very helpful with what has worked previously at this venue

Everything was absolutely amazing for our big day. It went off without a hitch and the staff was more than able to accomidate certain requests. As far as flexibility, this is more geared towards changes the board making changes to policies between us renting the space and the wedding date. Some requests we orignally had were allowed, but later were denied due to these changes, however compromises were made between us and the staff that made everything work out. I am sure going forward these items will already be in place and future wedding couples will not need to worry. Thank you to everyone that helped us in creating an amazing wedding and one that our guest still continue to talk about. Thank you so much!!

We absolutely loved everything that went on for our special day. I was so stressed about everything but it all worked out. Shannon was a huge help since when we first booked the hall, Megan Gailbraith was there. Shannon welcomed us and was very helpful with anything we needed. I would definantly recommend the Mayernick Center to anyone that is having a wedding in the future.

Beautiful site--great for an outdoor ceremony.

Shannon and Susie were wonderful. They seemed to try very hard to work with my requests and they were great at answering all of my questions. I E-mailed them several times over the course of the last year and Shannon always got back to me quickly. The day of the wedding went off without a hitch and the building itself was beautiful. Even if the lights that I was told would be changed were still flickering on and off annoyingly. The reason for my less than perfect review was because of the policy change. When my husband and I booked the Mayernik center we were told that we would have some time to set-up and decorate. Although it was not mentioned in the contract, (we were told it was because if they could book an event 3 months prior to our wedding then they wanted to leave that option open, and we would be informed otherwise, makes sense) I took them on their word that they would be accommodating to the time constraints of a do-it-yourself wedding. I was very disappointed later when they switched their events coordinator, and a few months before the wedding I was informed that we were unable to arrive before 10am to set up because of a policy change. They claimed that it was because it is very expensive to heat and cool the building so I explained that I would not need air conditioning. Every suggestion I threw out was denied and I eventually had to sacrifice one of my best friends (whom I wanted by my side) so that she could go and decorate the morning we were getting ready. In the end Susie took time out of her day to help with the set-up, she arrived earlier than ten to let us into the building and she was very accommodating the day of the event. She coordinated everything to the timeline I had given her and sometimes she even brought me a drink. She was very helpful the day of, even though she was very busy with other events going on in the park. I do not regret booking the Mayernik center but I believe their policy is way too strict and "THE BOARD" (all I kept hearing about) should reconsider. Just beware, there is nowhere to store anything prior to 10am, no way to drop things off prior to 10am, no way to cool things prior to 10am, no way to do anything until the time the bride and everyone else helping with the wedding is supposed to get ready for the wedding and are unable to be there. If you plan this ahead of time though your event should run smoothly.

The only thing I wished the hall had was a garment rack in the bridal suite. Other than that the place was magnificent, very kid friendly, playground on site!! have being able to have both the ceremony and reception was a win, win we had quite a few handicapped and elderly guests at our wedding, so i worked out very nicely not having to travel to a lot of places for the event. also the large ramp and wrap around deck proved to be tremendous help as well, if they wouldn't have had that my grandmother who is wheel chair bound would not have been able to attend. The events coordinator Suzi was very helpful, informative and kind through this whole process! I would recommend the Mayernik Center to anyone having a wedding, anniversary dinner party, graduation etc....

The Mayernik Center was a wonderful venue for both our ceremony and reception! We can not say enough good things about this place. The venue itself is beautiful and needed little decoration. Shannon our event coordinator was fantastic! Everything went off without a hitch and if it didn't I had no clue there was even an issue. Shannon quickly responded to all of my emails prior to our wedding which made it really easy to plan. She was very personable and easy to get along with. This place fills up quick so book it fast! I just wish the wedding and reception itself was longer so if you have the money I would suggest buying an extra hour. Other than that you will have no regrets if you choose to have your wedding here! Thanks so much Shannon!!
